CompHEP substitutes the QCD strong coupling constant as a
function of the QCD-lambda6 parameter and the Q^2 scale.
This menu function calls the next level menu which provides
the user a possibility to set a value for the QCD-lambda6
and an expression for running Q^2.
The QCD strong coupling is calculated in the
next-to-next-to-leading(NNLO) order (see 9.5a [*]). The
value depends on the number of quarks (nf) with masses less
than Q. The corresponding QCD-lambda_nf is calculated
according to (9.7) [*]
Q^2 may be defined as a constant or as a squared sum of
particle momenta. The same Q^2 scale is used as an argument
of parton structure functions.
If Q is defined as a constant, the corresponding value
of alpha=GG^2/(4*PI) is displayed above the next menu.
The alpha(s) plots for the region of 's' defined by the
user is available too.
